The location I'll be at has a Windows XP computer and a Windows 98SE computer and each have a static public IP address and are plugged into a Cisco router which is connected a T1 connection. I'd like to share this Internet connection. I won't have much time to set it up and I want to take the simplest approach.

Besides the price (which is outrageous; I can get static IPs from Verizon landline for a fraction of the cost, just as an example), I wish I could. They'll sell me DSL, but not with a static IP, not even for a $500 setup fee. The salesperson said they do that in all their markets *except* mine. 1.

Changing Server IP Address
In general, though, you should use your publicly accessible Static IP and subnet mask in this area (at least this is what we have set up at the Cayman at my office). The 192.168.241.101 is a private IP address that is not addressable via the Internet (thus, it isn't your static IP address).

Almost invariably, NATed (private) vs. directly routable (public) IPs and dynamic vs. static IPs really have absolutely *nothing* to do with each other. Static IP setup
If they had static IP, one could map a domain (even serving the DNS for it yourself) onto it and have a reliable, pretty high speed, dedicated-line server setup for super-cheap. All 300 of my systems have static ip and dns. This is why I had the new_ip and old_ip on the server nic.
